Frequently asked questions

What do you paint?

Mostly horses, equestrian-inspired subjects, dogs, and other animals. However, my work often extends to landscapes and other subjects. If you have something specific in mind, send me a message and I will let you know if it is a good fit.

Check out my portfolio to see my work.

How do I reserve a commission?

A 50% deposit reserves your place on my waitlist and lets us schedule your photography session.

If you’re interested in commissioned work, fill out my contact form for a free quote.

Do you work from my photos, or take your own?

For standard commissions, 8x10 and larger, a photography session is included. I travel to you, photograph your horse or pet the way you want them shown, then help you choose the final reference. If you are more than 30 miles from my Wilmington studio, a travel fee will be added. See more about my travel policy here.

In the case where your companion is no longer with us, I can take a look at the images you already have.

Can you paint a pet that has passed?

Yes. When a photo session isn’t possible, I’ll guide you through choosing an existing photo. A high-resolution, well-lit image with a composition you love makes all the difference.

How long does a commission take?

Plan on a minimum of eight weeks from the time your final reference is chosen to delivery. Actual timeframes will vary based on size and current waitlist.

If you have a deadline in mind, such as a holiday or a birthday, let me know and I will do my best to accommodate.

What does a commission cost?

Every commission is priced by size, framing, and any add-ons. Portraits begin at $445 for an 8x10 and scale with size. My most popular size, the 12x16, starts at $875. All standard portraits include a photography session, standard framing, and a simple background. Reach out and I’ll put together a detailed quote for the painting you have in mind.

What’s included, and what can I add?

Every portrait is created in oil on linen, painted to archival standards, framed in-house, and arrives ready to hang. My base pricing includes one subject, standard framing, and a simple background. Multiple subjects, detailed backgrounds, a name plate, and additional framing options are available for an additional cost.

Have something specific in mind? Include those details when you reach out and I will do my best to accommodate.

Do you ship?

Yes, I ship nationwide. Once your painting is finished and dry, we’ll arrange local pickup, delivery, or shipping with tracking depending on your location. Not sure what option is best for you? I’ll recommend the most cost-effective option based on your location.
